The history of the Portuguese Iwc is rooted in the past: in the late 1930s, IWC made large wristwatches on commission from two Portuguese merchants, characterized by very high running accuracy and with 74- and 98-caliber savonette-type pocket watch movements. The significantly larger-than-usual watch was launched on the market in 1939.
